It's been a while.
What can I tell you. Last week I finally managed to buy myself a mountain bike. I had been jonesin for oe for quite a while now. It's actually been quite some time since I had a bike and it really brings me back to times when my favorite part of the day was riding my bmx home from school. There used to be plenty of small dirt lots around my house with various "terrain features" that were lots of fun to ride on, jump off and fly down at dangerous speeds without a helmet.
Mountain Biking is a perfect sport for bringing that thrill back.
Iwan and I did a little riding last week. On saturday we scoped out a cool trail over at Lake Hodges
. I was planning on taking a group of my friends out there this coming saturday as part of the activities surrounding Marc's bachelor party. It turned out to be almost ideally suited for this. A pretty easy and fun trail with some great scenery. Among the scenery was a cool lil snake hanging out in the middle of the trail. It was just chillin...enjoying the sun...with his head in a pile of shit. I guess to a snake, poop is like a big soft pillow or something.
I've been busy at work. We are doing all sorts of new stuff including some more traditional and creative animation work, blocking out and setting up cinematic sequences, and some low level 3d modeling. Good clean stuff.
Aside from that I have been getting stuff ready for Marc's bachelor party. I have never been directly responsible for anything like this before (although I helped out for Gabe's B-party), so I'm a lil nervous. I hope Marc has a good time.
I have been watching a lil of VH1's 100 greatest songs of the last 25 years.
It's funny how popular these shows always are. It's not really known who chose the list...we assume it's some of the astute "Musicologists" over VH1 headquarters. I don't think anyone watches the show to find out what the best 100 songs really are, but rather to see how their personal lists would compare. This will invariably cause disagrements between the viewer and the invisible experts over at VH1. Rather than sit there grinning in agreement with their arbitrary lil countdown, It's much more fun to react with indignation and disgust. The placement of Areosmith's absurdly mediocre rock ballad (inspired by the ridiculously bad "Armegeddon"), "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" in any countdown....other than "top 100 songs that make me wanna puke"....is a good example. Actually...VH1 should let me run that countdown...that would be fun.
Also fun is the D-list musicians VH1 gets to comment on each song as it passes. Hall and Oates
? The Goo-Goo Dolls
? Tag Team
?!!! mean sure...I love "Maneater" as much as the next guy but you wouln't really call these guys "relevant". You won't even see them at the county fair! It's awsome to see Hall and Oates (for the first time in like 20 years) sit there and wax philosophical about the Backstreet Boys. Did I mention Tag Team was on there? You know Tag Team right? Whoop there it it? Yeah...those guys. Ahhh....so funny.
